Prerequisites: CSCI 1100 Using Information Technology. No musical ability is required for this course.
Course Goals and Objectives:
- To introduce students to computer applications for music.
- To give students the ability to manipulate sound, speech, and music with computer applications.
- To teach students to use the various file formats associated with computer music and the mechanics of the media, recorders, and associated hardware.
- To use the computer as a tool in the musical process.
- To teach the legalities and ethics involved with computers and music.
- To investigate the new directions and skills of the modern recording industry.
