CSCI 1105 - Computer Applications in Music



Prerequisites: CSCI 1100 Using Information Technology. No musical ability is required for this course.

Course Goals and Objectives:

  • To introduce students to computer applications for music.
  • To give students the ability to manipulate sound, speech, and music with computer applications.
  • To teach students to use the various file formats associated with computer music and the mechanics of the media, recorders, and associated hardware.
  • To use the computer as a tool in the musical process.
  • To teach the legalities and ethics involved with computers and music.
  • To investigate the new directions and skills of the modern recording industry.
