The initiators of the Emerging Technology Center project, back in 2003, were Dr. Terry Countermine and Carolyn Novak. Their first two assistants of the time were Joshua Banks and Ihab AbuZayda, who helped getting the Center started and created the first programs and applications. In 2006 the Center got approval and became official, as an additional technology tool for both students and faculty at CS Department and for other departments on campus that need assistance with emerging technologies.

The Emerging Technology Center currently offers opportunities for both students and faculty to practice their skills in real projects. Graduate students can get involved and build their portfolio while working for real-world clients. Faculty members from CS Department and other various departments have the opportunity to bring their expertise in projects where it is needed.

Presently, the Emerging Technology Center comprises one director who oversees all projects, two managers, and two graduate assistants who are in charge of different aspects of the ongoing projects. In addition, periodic specialist faculty members are contacted to capably assist on various parts of the projects in addition to numerous students who are contracted on an hourly basis.
