Brief Biography
Dr. Bailes received his B.S. in 1968, followed by an M.S. in 1969 and a Ph.D. in 1972, all from Clemson University. Since that time, Professor Bailes has been at his current position at E.T.S.U. and has served as Department Chair for many of those years.
Professor Bailes is the webmaster for his church (Wesley Memorial Methodist). He loves to scuba dive and has been diving for 20 years. He's a PADI Divemaster and has made well over 500 dives in lakes, rivers, quarries, and oceans, which are his favorite. Professor Bailes has dived near Cozumel, Grand Cayman Island, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Puget Sound, Roatan, Honduras as well as off the East Coast, West Coast, and Florida Keys, South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington State and California. He works out regularly at the Wellness Center and enjoys that even if he is ancient. Professor Bailes has 3 children, 1 grandson (born last August), and 2 cats. Actually, the cats own him and allow him to be their servant. Professor Bailes is also a major sports addict but his knees and ankles don't allow him to play any longer. He laments, "I just go to games or watch on TV." He lives in his office and has no remaining brain cells. He also remembers a time before computers.
