Dr. Pittarese earned his undergraduate degree in Management in 1991 from Pensacola Christian College, and an M.B.A. in Management and Marketing from the University of West Florida in 1992. During this time he joined the faculty of a local college and began teaching undergraduate business classes. In his free time, he set up and operated a hobbyist Bulletin Board System, The Eagles Nest. The Eagles Nest was the first free, publicly available system in northwest Florida to offer Internet e-mail and USENET newsgroup access to the public. Out of that hobby grew a desire to learn more about the use of technology to build communities, support communication, and transform business operations. In 1995 he returned to the University of West Florida and completed an M.S. degree in Computer Software Engineering. His Ph.D. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Auburn University was completed in 2003, with a coursework and research focus on Human Computer Interaction in online retailing.
